Novel Strategies to Support Economic Value When Clinical Data Is Scarce
For products that have been on the market for 5+ years, it can be difficult to find evidentiary material proving value of a device that is newly being asked for approval and support from review boards. Clinical data must ensure devices are up to current expectations in order to remain noticeable in a crowded market and maintain reimbursement. The challenge is found in trying to locate clinical trial publications, peer reviewed articles or HTAs for devices that have been on the market for an extended period of time. Companies are sometimes asked to redo a device trial to provide the necessary evidence for coverage and reimbursement which can be quite timely and costly. Developing strategies to creatively find evidence is often the only option to avoid trial repetition.
  • How to develop data in absence of reviews
  • Sponsoring market research or patient registries to provide value & efficiency
  • Opportunities seen in surgical outcomes research and clinicaltrils.gov
  • Steps to remaining visible in crowded market
